Highland
Roots was founded in Inverness in the late 1980s by Graeme Mackenzie as a family
history research service. Though more busy now as a clan historian, lecturer, and
events organiser, Graeme's services as a researcher are still available as and
when time allows (see the Research pages of this site). Since he's become more
involved in other aspects of Highland life, and particularly since being elected
Chairman of the Highland Family History Society, Graeme has spent an increasing amount of time passing
information about these subjects, along with his experience and contacts, on to
others in search of their roots in the Highlands. The World Wide Web now
provides an ideal vehicle for making that help more widely available, which is
the purpose of Highlandroots.org
All information on this site is provided in good faith and is, to the best of our knowledge, accurate when entered - but things change, the wrong keys can be hit, and URLs can be muddled up - so please, use this site as a guide, and then be sure to check things for yourself using the references and links provided.
All opinions on this site are personal and should be taken or left as such - though our policy is to mention what we think is good and ignore what we think is bad, rather than doing the opposite as many professional "critics" do. In the same spirit your positive feedback, including non-condemnatory corrections, will be welcomed. We'll also try to answer queries sent in that spirit, but our time is limited so please make sure you've checked the whole site, and pursued all the suggested links, before asking questions to which the answers may already be available on this or other suggested sites.
